CHRISTOPHER (CASEY) MCNAMARA is an experienced civil litigator and family law attorney. Casey’s civil litigation experience includes substantial experience litigating cases to trial in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration forums, and in appellate proceedings in the California Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Casey’s family law experience includes representing individuals in complex and, at times, contentious family law matters, including divorces involving the enforceability of premarital agreements, domestic violence claims, child custody issues, and complex financial matters.  With his extensive background in commercial litigation, Casey is particularly well-suited to handle complex divorces involving substantial assets, complicated financial issues, or difficult custody matters. Although Casey encourages his family law clients to focus on solutions to the problems created by a divorce rather than focusing on fights to win, he recognizes that sometimes the best solution to the problem requires vigorous advocacy, and, where necessary a trial. Casey has successfully settled and tried cases involving domestic violence, child custody, and numerous complex financial issues.

Although Casey primarily focuses on family law matters, he also continues to represent businesses and individuals in a variety of civil disputes. Casey’s past civil matters include representation of an individual an asset manager in an arbitration against the founders of a technology company in which the client was awarded $25 million, including $18 million in punitive damages; representation of the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America in novel case under the Lanham Act, which resulted in a substantial settlement in the client’s favor after the Court issued a preliminary injunction and froze  the defendant’s assets; and representation of fuel cell manufacturer in an arbitration against a large battery company in which the client was awarded more than $50 million in damages.

Casey received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2000, graduating magna cum laude. Casey received a number of awards and recognitions during law school, including Order of the Coif; Thurston Society Member; Best Oral Advocate, Moot Court, 1998; American Jurisprudence Award, Administrative Law, 1998; and CALI Excellence for the Future Award, Criminal Practice Clinic, 1999. Casey received a B.A. in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1991.
